Gregory James Aziz is the current National Steel Car CEO, Chairman, and President. Aziz was born on 30th April 1949 in London, Ontario. Aziz took his early education at Ridley College and later went to the University of Western Ontario where he majored in economics.


Gregory started learning the ropes of business early, and in 1971 he joined Affiliated Foods, a wholesale food business that belonged to his family. The company grew by leaps and bound, and after sixteen years, it transformed into a global fresh food importer mainly from Central, South America, and Europe. In that period, the company managed to set up distribution to every important wholesale market that dealt with fresh food throughout Eastern Canada and the United States.


James Aziz investments in the late 80s and early 90s included numerous ventures in the New York banking sectors. It was after this period that Aziz made arrangement to acquire National steel car in 1994 from Dofasco. Gregory Aziz was determined to make National Steel car into the leading railroad cargo carmaker in North America and restore it to its former glory as a great Canadian Firm.


Stressing on the firm’s engineering competencies and team efforts strength and by investing significantly in the capital and human resources, by 1999, National steel Car had stretched its manufacturing ability to 12,000 cars per year from 3500 and raising employment to 3000 workers from 600.
